GoShala Gurgaon is an initiative directed towards protecting Cows. Although respect for Cows still exists but the traditional HIGH respect of cows has vanished and is mostly vitnessed only in popular religious centers and temples of the country. Cow slaughter is permitted in most Indian states with limits and regulations only, although illegal slaughterhouses exist in most cities.

The consumption of Meat has seen an unprecedented rise in India. Even though the Hindus who eat meat almost never eat beef and restrict themselves to eating Chicken, Fish and goat meat. Beef consumption in India is still fairly low and a large percentage of slaughtered cows are exported to middle eastern countries.

The purpose of cows is mostly limited for the reasons of milk and cow dung manure for farming. Consumption of milk is still very high in India as besides being directly consumed, it is also used in Sweets, Cheese, frying butter (Ghee) , Paneer (Cottage cheese) and many more products.

The rise in milk prices is often considered a major hardship for the Indian society. Giving hormones for higher milk yield is unfortunately becoming a common practice. Cows have certainly lost their pride which they once enjoyed and younger educated generation hardly cares about the fate of these animals. Come join us in our initiative to protect the interest of our Sacred Animal!
